Red….

The color evokes images of anger, passion, love, beauty.  I’ve been quick to anger often lately.  Feeling like we are stuck in a rut of bad luck and blaming it on anything I can. I realized earlier this week that I couldn’t keep doing that. I couldn’t keep being angry.

I sat in our backyard watching my boys play on their jungle gym.  I glanced at our big tree and noticed red leaves.  Fall.  It’s finally almost here.  And for that I am thankful.  Fall always seems to be the happiest time of year for us.  The pumpkin, the snuggly nights in sweaters.  The trick or treating.  The family.  Red leaves mixed with oranges and browns.  True beauty and nature paints it for us every year.

My husband I were married in the fall.  We started dating in the fall.  It really has become OUR season.  We fall deeper in love with each other every fall because it never fails that we find something new to do together.  This time of year is sweet.

I always get to pull out my rich red lipsticks again in the fall.  They have always been my favorite and I always deem them too ‘heavy’ for spring and summer. But not fall. In fall we celebrate all the richness.  Bright reds, deep purples. And again those burnt oranges.

Cozy red mugs filled with hot chocolate.  Ahhh, this is reason to let go of anger and celebrate happiness, love, and passion.  This is OUR season.
